Happy Midweek!

Hello,

Haven't been updating for some time as work is taking up the bulk of my time recently...or rather my energy. I've been meaning to do a November Favourites. The obsession with Korean beauty products has slowed down a little bit and I have been starting to explore more western brands again which is why I've since accumulated enough points to be a Sephora member :p.

Spent quite a bit getting some products which had good reviews and.... I got a Clarisonic Mia 2... in PINK! Wanted to get a white Mia but the price difference of about $40 between the versions means that I get a 2-Year warranty instead of 1.

Excited to try it out and see how it works for me.

There are opposing reviews online but I guess with the brand's popularity and even renowned companies like Clinique coming up with their own version, it should work fine on most skin? I definitely hope it does because it's quite pricey and requires maintenance of changing a brush head every 3 months.

Selfies which were taken over a month ago.

December is gonna be a busy and hopefully fulfilling month with work and events lining up on the weekends. And of cos Christmas will be here soon. Just checked my calender today and realized how fast it is and I haven't even gotten down to buying any presents yet.

Nails - Modelsown

Models Own Artstix Nail Polish Duo in Snow Mix.

They have different combinations of their popular colours/glitters in this duo series.

One side is says Paint it and the other, Cover it.  A bit tricky to apply at first as the white polish is slightly watery but some practice and it's fine. It needs about two coats at least for a nice opaque, even finish.

I love how the glitters look on their own in the bottle.

Don't you like admiring your polished nails? Most of the time I'm too lazy because it chips after I do a couple of dishes, but when I make the effort, I like looking at them while I'm doing things like typing. XD

Sparkly! :)

Autumn Makeup with Sleek Palette

Autumn is to some of gloomy, dark skies and a signal of the impending dreary cold.

From my part of the world, autumn doesn't really exist..?

When the word comes to mind, I think of wine colored stuff, the usual falling leaves and oddly....vampires. Maybe not really odd, because if you see vampire inspired makeup tutorials, they usually use autumn color palettes? XD

So while most of the world have its FW collections etc and a total haul of clothing styles, hairstyles or color, footwear, here where it is just summer after summer it's just........none of our business.

Though cold weather is not something I enjoy, being accustomed to warmer temperatures, sometimes I wish I could don the coats and stockings just because they look really NICE. And boots and beanies. Cute!

But sadly we can only do that when we travel.

The day it turns cold here, I think half the world may not be around :/

Then again, it's the beginning of the monsoon season now, so it is gonna be dark, rainy and (HOPEFULLY) a lot cooler, so I guess... it's our kind of autumn? lol.

Anyway did this Autumn inspired makeup with the Sleek Makeup Palette in #Bad Girl which I got from Luxola. They have been having promos every other day for the past few weeks??

Picked this out of the other palettes because there are some colors which I do not have and also because they seem wearable.

Autumn transformation.

Sleek Bad Girl Palette

Mmm Scents

L-R: (Diffuser) Anna Sui Dolly Girl, Versace Bright Crystal, Dior Miss Dior Cherie.

My little collection of fragrances. I stopped buying fragrances because I'm usually too lazy to spritz them on being heading out. They make nice ornaments on my revamped hand painted shelves (took me 6 hours!) now.

Lip Care

One of my favourite makeup product is a lipstick, and while we often carefully select cleansers and exfoliators to make sure the dirt and gunk gets scrubbed off our faces, we end up neglecting the lips.

I occasionally rub my peeling gel over my lips lightly while using it on the rest of my face, but for most of the time I don't really take care of them except for some lip balm when I'm applying a lip color.

I bought a lip scrub from Innisfree months ago but have yet to use it. Recently I tried this Tony Moly lip scrub which a friend got me from Korea, and am going to make an effort to remember to incorporate lip care into my routine!

Just like facial makeup, there might be built-up over time and I often use lip products with strong pigmentation, and I do worry if it could cause dryness or staining over time.

Using a soft toothbrush to get rid of dead skin cells could do the job too, but I prefer using a creamy scrub to massage my lips.

I just realised the name of this product is so cute, Tony Moly Kiss Kiss Lip Scrub. XD

Kiss Kiss
Twist to open
Comes with a brand name imprinted seal
Smells yummy

It has a luscious vanilla fragrance with little exfoliating beads mixed into a moisturizing soft cream which spreads over the lips easily.

I expected an overly sweet girly berries scent with a packaging like that and was pleasantly surprised.

Not much product in the small tub but a little dab for a one-time usage is sufficient. I'm gonna wash and keep the lip-shaped container after I'm finished with the scrub. Too cute to throw. :) Could use it as a earrings or supplement pill storage.

After exfoliating comes moisturizing.
Vaseline Lip Therapy and Smith's Rosebud Salve Tube in Minted Rose.
I've been using Vaseline for the longest time and I prefer it over chap sticks which seems to coat the lips and prevent peeling but doesn't feel like it moisturizes? I've tried it during overseas trips with chilly and dry weather where I often experience cracked lips and I think it works well.

Got the popular Smith's Rosebud Salve recently and I like the minty cooling sensation (Minted Rose flavor). It spreads easily like Vaseline's and my lips feel pumped with moisture after use.

Textures.
Vaseline is more goopy and thicker in texture while Smith's has a more liquid-y and smooth formula.
Both are easily absorbed and hydrating.

Hot (dog) lips.

Keep those puckers smooth and moisturized!

October Favourites

Since it's the first day of November, I thought it would be apt to do a post on products I have used in the past month and liked.

1.Laneige Gel Liquid Liner
Its dramatic, intense and lines my eyes more heavily for a very defined look. Love it except that it does takes longer to clean off than my other eyeliners. I reviewed it previously:Laneige Gel Liquid Liner.

2.Stylenanda 3CE Fixer & Mascara
If you like fibre mascaras, you would love this one. So far I don't think I've had any problems with 3CE products. They work pretty well for me.

3.Etude House Rosy Tint Lips #8
Wanted a strong burgundy-like color and I chose this as the shade was just right and doesn't look overly mature like most darker colors would. Really easy to use with a squeeze tube and a sponge opening for simple direct application. Been carrying it around in my makeup bag. I try to rotate my lip products so they all get more equal usage. XD I'd usually pick a color from my makeup drawer that I'm in the mood for and that will be my lip product for the week or the next few days if I'm heading out.

4.Skin Inc
This came in a packaged set Get Awesome Skin-Get Glowin' and consisted of 3 serums(5ml each), a peeling gel and a hydrating mask. I didn't see extremely significant results after close to two weeks but my skin definitely felt moisturized, like how it would when I kept to a proper skincare routine. What made it great was the fun it provided in using them and I liked the idea of using concentrated serums that targeted different skin concerns. May repurchase if there is a promotion because a 10ml bottle of serum would cost a pretty steep SGD$64. Get the set if you are considering trying out the brand for the first time and there are good reviews for their heavily marketed and popular Pure Revival Peel which is included in it.

5.Etude House Play Nail Polish 76 #BL603
Liked it as soon as I started painting it on. Polish goes on smoothly, does not require extra coats and dries off to a even glossy finish.

6.Sleek MakeUP Blush in #Pixie Pink
Vivid hue of pink that is richly pigmented, has good staying power and requires just a couple of swipes on cheeks. Highly recommended- good quality and reasonably priced at around SGD$15 from Luxola.

7.Hera UV Mist Cushion #N21
Got a friend to help me purchase this on her trip to Korea, as a replacement to The Face Shop's Natural Sun AQ Smart Cushion which I finished. It's another great cushion product and leaves my skin looking evenly smooth and dewy.

^^ Have a great weekend!

Skin Food Black Sugar Scrub Foam

Most Korean skincare users would probably have heard of this or have used it themselves. Skin Food's Black Sugar Scrub Foam has received plenty of great reviews and is one of the products from the brand's popular Black Sugar series.

I got it a couple of months back together with the Argan Oil Silk Hair Mask Pack.

Honestly after using it for some time, I find it normal and there are more cons than pros for this product to me. The smell is on the strong side and while that may not be a a deterring factor as it is still bearable, the fragrance may be a concern for sensitive skin.

The foam does a decent job in exfoliating physically with the rough granules and leaves skin feeling cleaner and smooth with the plus point being that it doesn't feel dry or taut. :)

The packaging is not really user-friendly as it comes with a screw cap instead of a convenient flip one.

Imagine trying to juggle tightening the cap with a couple of turns after squeezing a slippery dollop on your palm/back of hand and trying to make sure the scrub doesn't fall off. 8 out of 10 times it slides right off. >.<

Is there some other proper way? Perhaps dabbing it straight on your face? But I do prefer smoothing the product in between my palms before applying it on my face. Packaging and function are really important factors in providing convenience and hygiene etc.

The design of the scrub's tube oddly was similar to the mask pack I purchased. Both come in brownish tubes with a sticker label in the middle, not really the most attractive compared to many Korean products out there and there isn't much differentiation although one is a hair product and the other is a face product and they utilize different ingredient series.

Skin Food Black Sugar Scrub Foam
Texture:Creamy, large sugar granules.
Function: Exfoliates well, does not dry out skin. Not really liking the screw cap packaging.    Strong fragrance, not suitable for skin very prone to sensitivity.
Price: Slightly high, around SGD$35.
Love it?: Not bad.
